Construction Begins on New Iron Mountain Facility

NEW!! Scroll Down for Updates on This Project

We're pleased to have begun work on constructing the new Iron Mountain facility at 68 Grant Timmins in Kingston. You'll see in the photos that we've begun the sitework in preparation for construction. As we launched this project our site work contractor Gordon Barr took these aerial photos. We hope to update you with more aerial progress update shots throughout the project.

This facility will add to Iron Mountain's existing 66 locations across Canada, providing customers with secure record storage and document imaging services. The facility will consist of a 33,000 sq.ft. pre-engineered steel Butler building, an energy efficient building envelope and a TLS MR-24 Butler Standing Seam roof system.

Bel-Con is proud to have been chosen as the design-builder for this important and exciting project, and looks forward to working with the Iron Mountain team.

On-site Progress: May 27th Update

We're in the early stages of our project and one of the first components is the storm water management pond, which you can see in the photo, is taking shape.

We have also received delivery of some of the structural materials. As you can see in the image, part of the primary structural frames (roof beams) is now onsite. Whenever possible this primary structure is prepared on the ground for the increased safety of our workers; e.g. installation of structural clips and plates.

Because this project has special size requirements for the bays we'll be building, we'll be using a specialized truss system called Truss Purlin XT. We'll share more info in a future blog post about what Truss Purlin XT is, and why it's the right solution for certain unique construction challenges.
